Health Care

Stephanie Lowenhaupt, Director 2024-2026

The Health Care Issue Group has been working on action steps we can take on the local and state level based on the LWV National Position on Health Care Access and Equity. The goal of LWV National is Universal and equitable access to comprehensive care — supporting health insurance not tied to employment; expanded delivery options to reach the most vulnerable, ensuring quality care and safe staffing, and centering health care decisions made by patients with their physicians and families, rather than for-profit entities.

Our Action Statement: Monitor and take action to support efforts to improve access to affordable, quality health care and health equity in the Charlottesville area as well on the state level under the LWVUS position on healthcare reform, with a particular focus on disparities affecting vulnerable populations; partner with other local organizations and state coalitions to identify needs and develop strategies to address them.
